Tips for coloring stained glass

  • Think of light shining through glass: jewel tones such as ruby, sapphire and emerald work beautifully.
  • Give neighboring panes contrasting colors so each one reads clearly between the lines.
  • Repeat a few colors across the design to tie the whole window together.
  • Printing: choose "Fit to page" in the print dialog. Heavier paper (120 gsm or 32 lb and up) stops markers bleeding through.
